The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) operates a platform of projects and programs in 170 countries aimed at making it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a business. By fostering deeper cross border collaboration and initiatives between entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurial support organizations, GEN works to fuel healthier entrepreneurship ecosystems that create more jobs, educate individuals, accelerate innovation and strengthen economic growth. GEN Namibia, is one such player in the southern African entrepreneurship ecosystem sphere focusing on connecting entrepreneurial ecosystems.

It is a proud moment to announce that the GEN Connect collaboration yielded fruits within neighbouring Namibia, Zambia, and South Africa. GEN Namibia together with WeCreate Zambia and Creative Kapture Hub (South Africa) will bring celebration activities during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) November 2019 for 20 Zambian and 20 Namibian women entrepreneurs to showcase their agro business crossing the borders of Zambia to Namibia and vice versa. Celebratory exposure during GEW 2019 could have a direct impact on business survival, scale and market expansion.

The activities for Zambian women agro-preneurs will start in Lusaka Zambia with partner WeCreate. The activities for GEW took place in November 2019. Men were invited to join the training as per the UNESCO guidelines.

The UNESCO office is of the opinion that men should be included in the activities arranged for women empowerment in all countries. It might combat the violence against women and children to a certain extent according to research that has been conducted.

GEN Namibia’s board of directors has agreed to the way for forward would be to invite male participants to be involved when women empowerment is conducted. The understanding element of GEN Global fits also with the direction. The more beneficiaries included that will result in improved quality of life for societies.

These activities underscore the “Inclusive Entrepreneurship” motto for 2019
